Anadolu Hisarı is an Ottoman castle built by Yıldırım Bayezid in 1395 and located in Anadoluhisarı district of Beykoz, Istanbul. In 2022, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality requested suggestions from different design teams to renovate the castle. As Manuma Studio, we designed a corporate identity and wayfinding system for the proposal project made by the architectural office FREA.
The reference point of our identity design was the visual contrast between the thick walls of Hisar and the small lineer holes on these walls that allow to watch and control outside. We created the logo with initials of Anadolu Hisarı Museum by carving the narrow holes from the bold solid. We pursue this concept in our environmental graphic and wayfinding designs.
